Privacy Policy

Introduction

Lensly ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use the Lensly iOS application.

Please read this policy carefully. If you disagree with its terms, please discontinue use of the app.

Information We Collect

We collect the following categories of information:

  • Account information: Email address and password when you create a Lensly account.
  • Location data: Your GPS coordinates to compute solar events, golden hour times, weather conditions, and nearby photography spots. Location is used in real time and is not stored on our servers.
  • User-generated content: Gear lists, saved spots, and daily challenge responses you voluntarily enter into the app. This data is synced to your account if you are signed in.
  • Photos you upload: Images you upload to the Scene Analyzer or Preset Generator are sent to our AI provider (Anthropic) for analysis and are not stored by Lensly after the response is returned.
  • Usage data: Aggregate, anonymised analytics to understand how features are used. This does not include personally identifiable information.
  • Purchase information: Subscription status managed by Apple via in-app purchases. We do not receive or store your payment card details.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide and operate the Lensly app and its features.
  • Personalise AI recommendations based on your gear list, location, and weather conditions.
  • Sync your gear, saved spots, and challenge history across devices.
  • Send optional push notifications (e.g., golden hour reminders) if you have granted permission.
  • Improve the app by understanding feature usage patterns.
  • Respond to support enquiries.

Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal data. We share data with the following third parties only as necessary to operate the service:

  • Supabase: Our backend database provider. Account information, gear, saved spots, and challenge history are stored in Supabase. Data is encrypted at rest and in transit.
  • Anthropic: AI provider powering Scene Analyzer, Photo Tutor, Nearby Spots, and Preset Generator. Photos you upload and messages you send to AI features are processed by Anthropic. Anthropic's privacy policy governs how they handle this data.
  • RevenueCat: Subscription management platform. RevenueCat receives anonymised purchase receipts to verify your subscription status.
  • Open-Meteo: Weather data provider. Your GPS coordinates are sent to Open-Meteo to retrieve weather forecasts. No account data is shared.
  • Apple: Location services, push notifications, and in-app purchases are mediated by Apple's frameworks and subject to Apple's privacy policy.

Location Data

Lensly requests access to your device's location to compute accurate solar event times (sunrise, sunset, golden hour, blue hour, astronomical events), weather conditions, and nearby photography spots.

Location data is used in real time within the app. Your precise coordinates are never stored in our database. You can revoke location permission at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → Lensly.

Photos and AI Processing

When you use Scene Analyzer or Preset Generator, you voluntarily upload photos to the app. These images are transmitted securely to Anthropic for AI analysis. Lensly does not store or retain uploaded images after the AI response is returned to your device.

By uploading a photo, you consent to it being processed by Anthropic's API in accordance with Anthropic's usage policies.

Data Retention

We retain your account data (email, gear list, saved spots, challenge history) for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account via Profile → Delete Account, all associated data is permanently removed from our servers within 30 days.

Children's Privacy

Lensly is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13 without parental consent, we will delete that information promptly.

Security

We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your information against unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. All data is transmitted over HTTPS/TLS. Database records are encrypted at rest.

No method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you.
  • Request correction of inaccurate data.
  • Request deletion of your data.
  • Object to or restrict processing of your data.
  • Data portability (receive your data in a machine-readable format).

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, by in-app notice. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
